MOTT Box Rustic Headed To Spero Vineyards

We are so excited to announce that the MOTT Box Rustic is going to be sent to Spero Vineyards in Temecula CA this weekend. It was a pleasure getting to meet Mark and Eva Woodsmall a few weeks ago  while they were in Ventura for the weekend. What great people with a passion for supporting young adults with the development of their disabilities. I look forward to following this amazing cause and exciting project! More photos of the MOTT Box at the vineyard to come!  Here is a little bit about what they are doing-

Spero Vineyards
Hope Grows Here

A New Kind of Training Program
The Spero Vineyards Viticulture Vocational Training program is dedicated to providing opportunities for young adults with developmental disabilities.  Spero is a unique public-private partnership between project organizers Mark & Eva Woodsmall , the City of Temecula and the Temecula Valley Winegrowers Association. Currently, the project has 880 vines under cultivation and there are plans to expand the vineyard by an additional 2,000 vines.

Student participants in the project will receive instruction in the history/culture, science, hospitality, business/marketing, and agricultural aspects of the winemaking business.  Students will be afforded the opportunity to earn a customer service certification and a food handler’s license.  Students will be trained in essential skill areas that will position them to apply for and secure employment in a mainstream work environment.  Each class session will be interactive and hands on to stimulate and engage students.  The first cohort, already underway will serve 10 students.  The project aims to expand the program to serve up to 200 participants annually in the next five years.

MOTT Box RUSTIC Model

The last few months we have been working on a new version of the MOTT Box Rustic Model. We have upgraded a few things to make it have better air flow throughout. This new model will include a 3ft wide by 7ft high clad door and a  8ft wide by 7ft high bi folding door to open it up a lot more. We are adding a larger skylight which to help enhance the overall brightness during the day. Another new feature is that it will be wired for electrical as an option, but we will be doing battery and solar powered lights for the off the grid aspect. Here are a few photos of the progress and we are moving along fast so we will be updating photos in the coming days. Ordering info: mottboxinfo@gmail.com

MOTT mini

Friday Alfredo from AR Painting and good friend who we've worked with for many years did the final coat of paint on the MOTT mini. I am very happy with the way it came out, black and white. The flooring is the original 3/4 plywood, which is very distressed. We had it stained by Ed's Hardwood Floor Staining VTA, and left some of the old over sprayed paint which left some neat grain lines. All we have to do is paint the exterior window frames black and put the cargo door handles and and lock on. Here are some photos of where we are at now. We are hoping to stage and shoot the MOTT1 and MOTT mini with my friend Scott Soens, who's an incredible photographer  on Tuesday or Wednesday. A lot of people have asked me to explain the size over the phone of how big these are, so if we stage them it will be easier to tell what can fit inside.

The Young & Brave Foundation

We wanted to let you know about The Young & Brave Foundation which are doing great things!  A portion of our proceeds from MOTT Box sales will go towards this cause. The Young And Brave Foundation raises money and support to the precious little ones with cancer. Here is some information on my brother Nathaniel & close friend Matt Coulter's foundation. https://www.theyoungandbrave.

The Young and Brave Foundation began from LOVE. In 2010, founders Nathaniel Curran and Matt Coulter were hit with a devastating blow, when a loved one was diagnosed with the unthinkable: cancer. It was a complete shock to all, and no one knew quite where to turn. Not ones to sit on the sidelines, Nathaniel and Matt jumped into action; helping raise money to cover medical expenses, creating community awareness and offering support to their friend in need. It was the fight for life that occurred after the diagnosis that truly opened their eyes to the harsh realities of cancer. From this experience, Nathaniel and Matt’s passion for helping others was born.

In March of 2011 The Young and Brave Foundation received its 501(c)(3) nonprofit status with the vision of helping young adults, children, and families with little ones diagnosed with all forms of cancer. This was a huge accomplishment and essential to the growth of the Foundation. Fulfilling this goal gave them the confidence to realize that they were on the right path. With many new opportunities coming their way they are humbled and excited for what the future holds.
Founders Nathaniel Curran, Matt Coulter and original board members Josh Curran and Frank Tesoro each bring their own creativity, visions and goals to the Foundation. With every individual and family the Foundation takes a direct step into your corner helping you and those you love beat cancer. No matter the circumstance, they are dedicated to fighting alongside those young and brave.
From the beginning the theme of the foundation has been LOVE. Cancer is one of the most difficult challenges anyone can face in their lifetime. “Always LOVE” has become their battle cry because with LOVE, absolutely anything is possible!

GO mini GO

This one I am very excited about, think I may have to keep this one some how. Even though I would need a crane to get it in our yard. I would love this space as a place to write some music, and have an open air office as well. I really think it's best to create more window space and door space than adding skylights. Since the spaces are so small but have plenty of light from the windows the skylights are more of a liability for leakage down the road. We are painting the inside of this one the right white-restoration hardware on the inside and a dark grey on the exterior. I think it will be a really cool contrast. We are keeping the old distressed plywood floors and are just going to have them stained. They have the coolest old screws, which adds a nice look. We are gonna put this cool light inside and find some motion sensor solar lights for the exterior.

Anyways, here are a few photos of where we are at with the mini >>>----->

Hardware-

Finally got the door hardware installed! Tomorrow we are having the interior of the MOTT1 painted and then we are complete!  Looks like they will be both done by next week then off to a photo shoot by some of my good buds who shoot for a living. Gotta build the dream right??

MOTT mini

Since we are waiting on a few things for the MOTT1, we started working on the MOTT mini. This one is going to be like a little Transformer... The cargo doors will open on one side and able to be converted into a outdoor bunk bed or 4 ft of extra floor space. The opposite side will have French doors that swing out. This will make this small space have plenty of air flow if needed.  We sided it with 1by12 Hardie board which will be painted flat black. The inside will be white/white. I wanted to go with an extreme opposite combo on this one. I really like the way non overlap siding looks painted black. It has been insulated and will have one interior light fixture and an outlet for a computer etc. The outside fixtures will be solar, so a little bit of both on the electrical side of things. Can't wait until this one get's painted!

Lights

The lights have been installed and we are waiting on a few last minute items before we are finally finished. The first one has been very exciting and we've learned a lot in a very short amount of time. I am very optimistic about the MOTT Box venture due to the interest we have had in a very short time. I am hoping that we are only scratching the surface of where we will be in a few years. I can't stop thinking about new ideas and places these containers can go!
